Good fringe accommodation

Stayed here for the fringe. It's (relatively) good value for money if hostels are not for you, but hotels are too expensive.
Close to town, and nice and quiet.

Could definitely use the common spaces being professionally cleaned more often as my kitchen/bathroom mates weren't cleaning up after themselves so it got unpleasant pretty quickly.

Also, I've stayed here for years until the Monday of the fringe and every year the cleaners come knocking down my door on the Sunday. There needs to be better communication that some guests are staying longer, as they threw out things I left in the bathroom for the remainder of my stay.

In terms of fringe acommodation this is the best value for money I've been able to find. It's also located right on the meadows, so it's very quiet, while still being a 10-15 walk from pretty much everything in old town. The room has a small double/twin bed and is nice and comfortable with plenty of storage space for one person.
The only problem is that the common areas are only cleaned weekly, and the bathroom wasn't cleaned at all during my 16 night stay. Also, two years in a row they never replaced toilet paper during my stay so I had to go ask at reception. A weekly clean and replacing of towels/toilet paper would make this just about perfect.

Comfortable student accommodation with Unite Scotland. Conveniently located, helpful friendly staff. Good rooms with shared kitchen & bathroom, decent facilities. The laundry is a nightmare though--only usable via an app linked to your PayPal account, and they system broke each time I tried to use it.

Nicely located, quiet accommodation. Good to have your own room. Easy walking distance to everything.
Unfortunately, I was there for 16 days and the shared bathroom was never cleaned and the toilet paper was never replaced, despite me requesting some at reception. Also, there should be a bath mat in the shared bathroom because people were leaving water all over the floor.
